• The JUIT was conceived by a joint vision of the Govt of Himachal Pradesh and the Founder Chairman of Jaypee Group Shri JaiPrakash Gaur in 2000. Land was provided on lease by the State Govt and the university was established by Act No 14 of 2002 vide Extraordinary Gazette Notification of the Govt of Himachal Pradesh dated May 23, 2002.
• The University Grants Commission accorded its approval under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act vide their Letter No. F 9-10/2002(CPP-1) dated 09 Dec 2002. The JUIT is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

• Civil Engineering
• Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology (CSE & IT)
• Electronics and Communication Engineering

Eligibility Criteria:

• Candidates' date of birth as recorded in the 10th Class Board Certificate should fall on or after October 01, 2002
• Candidates with gap year (if any) between their 10+2 and admission to BTech Program, will be required to submit Gap Period affidavit as per the format available at University Website.
• For JEE (Mains) based admission, candidates should have qualified JEE (Mains) - 2023 All India Rank (AIR) and should have passed or appeared in 10+2 Examination or equivalent (as defined in JEE (Mains) 2023) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one subject out of Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, Entrepreneurship and English from any recognized Board.
• For 10+2 marks based admissions, candidates should have minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ ST) in aggregate in 10+2 or its equivalent examination.
• 10+2 marks based Non-JEE Candidates for admission in branches other than Biotechnology / Bioinformatics: The candidate should have minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate in 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one subject out of Chemistry, Computer Science, Electronics, Information Technology, Biology, Informatics Practices, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject, Agriculture, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies, Entrepreneurship and English.
• 10+2 marks based Non-JEE Candidates for admission in Biotechnology / Bioinformatics: The candidate should have minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate in 10+2 or its equivalent examination with Biology/Biotechnology as compulsory subjects along with two subjects out of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Informatics Practices, Technical Vocational Subjects, Agriculture, Electronics, Entrepreneurship, Engineering Graphics, Business Studies and English.
• BTech (Lateral Entry) Directly to 2nd Year: The candidate should have passed/ appeared (in final semester/ year) 03 Year Diploma Program with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks or its equivalent CGPA from recognized Board/ University. Candidates who have passed BTech 1st Year Examination with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks or its equivalent CGPA from the recognized University / Institutions are also eligible for admission to the Program.
