What is NEET ?

  • The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET-UG (Undergraduate) is an entrance examination in India, for students who wish to join in any graduate medical course (MBBS/ dental course (BDS) in government or private medical colleges in India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.
  • This Year NEET-UG will conducted by the NTA as an independent,autonomous and self-sustained premier organisation. The Central Government has established the National Testing Agency to conduct entrance examination for admission/ fellowship in higher educational institutions.
  • Indian Citizens/Overseas Citizens of India intending to pursue MBBS/BDS from a foreign Medical/Dental Institute need to qualify NEET (UG) - 2019

Eligibility:

  • Nationality: Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRI's), Oversees Citizen of India (OCI's), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO's) & Foreign Nationals are eligible to appear in NEET (UG)-2019 and also eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
  • He/she has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.
  • The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years as on the date of examination with relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category and persons entitled for reservation under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016

The Age criteria for appearing in NEET (UG) - 2019 is as follows:

  • In view of the Hon'ble Supreme Court's Order in SLP (C) No(s). 14320/2018 and in other connected matters, dated 29th November, 2018, the petitioners / candidates who are 25 years of age and above shall be entitled to apply and appear in the NEET (UG)-2019 examination provisionally subject to final outcome of these matters. Accordingly the eligibility conditions regarding age limit is revised as under:
For Candidates of Unreserved Category (UR)born on or between 05.05.1994 and 31.12.2002
For Candidates of SC/ST/OBC/PH Categoryborn on or between 05.05.1989 and 31.12.2002

Eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats:

  • Indian Nationals, Non Resident Indians (NRIs), Oversees Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons with Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats.
  • Candidates from State of J & K: Students from State of J & K are NOT ELIGIBLE for 15% all India quota seats as State of J&K has opted out of All India Scheme since its inception.

Qualifying Examination:

  • The Higher/Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher/Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study are eligible to apply NEET-2019.
  • Candidates whose result is awaited are also eligible to apply NEET-2019.

  • A candidate can apply for the NEET(UG)-2019 only on-line by logging on to ntaneet.nic.in
  • The information desired to be filled in the Online Application such as names of Father/Mother and Candidate with correct spellings, Aadhaar Number (last 4 digits)/Election Card (EPIC No.)/Passport number/Ration Card Number/ Bank Account Number/Other valid Govt. Identity Card Number, Date of Birth, Address, Mobile Number, email id, etc. may be kept ready. Admit Cards:

  • The NTA will provide the facility of downloading Admit Cards of NEET (UG)-2019 on the ntaneet.nic.in website

Admission and Reservation Procedure:

  • An All India Merit List of the qualified candidates shall be prepared on the basis of All India Rank in the Merit List of the NEET (UG) - 2019 and candidates shall be admitted to MBBS/BDS Courses from the said list only by following the already existing reservation policy. NTA will provide All India Rank.
  • Admission to MBBS/BDS Courses within the respective categories shall be based solely on All India Rank as per merit list of NEET (UG) - 2019.
  • Reservation of seats in government medical colleges under 15% All India Quota:
    • 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates,
    • 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates,
    • 27% seats in Central Educational Institutions are reserved for OBC candidates only as per Central Educational Institutions
  • Candidates under PwD category as per MCI guidelines: 5% seats of the annual sanctioned intake shall be filled by candidates falling under Persons with Bench Mark disabilities as per MCI Guidelines/ Regulations
