What is NTSE ?

  • National Talent Search Examination(NTSE) is a national-level scholarship test in India to recognize students with high academic talent
  • It is one of the most prestigious exams in India for secondary level students. Nearly 10,00,000 students will appear for this scholarship exam every year. Out of all, 1000 scholarships would be awarded through merit without any restrictions like parental income, government school, domicile etc.

Why NTSE ?

  • The students who will qualify in this exam are eligible for the scholarships provided by Indian government until his/her education completed.
  • The amount of scholarship is Rs.1250 per month for class XI and XII and Rs.2000 per month for students studying Under Graduate and Post Graduate.
  • Apart from the scholarships, some research institutes, colleges and universities exclusively reserve their seats for NTSE scholars like IIIT Hyderabad and IIIT Delhi
  • Some Foreign universities give benefits during admission
  • The main important point is, Being an NTSE scholar boosts your confidence to crack other competitive exams like IIT JEE , NEET etc.

Who are Eligible to Write NTSE-2018?

    Students satisfying the following criteria can participate in NTSE-2018:
  • An Indian Citizen with age below 18 years
  • A student studying in class 10 in a recognized school of India
  • Indian Nationality students studying Abroad in class X can appear directly for Stage II NTS exam. But the scholarship shall be paid for pursuing studies in India only.

NTSE-2018 Exam Format:

    The exam will be conducted every year at two levels
  • Stage I: State level examination - conducted by State Education Boards - but mentored by NCERT
  • Stage II: National level examination - directly conducted by NCERT

Some facts about NTSE:

  • The awardees studying in Sciences, Social sciences, Humanities, Languages, Commerce, Vocational studies and fine arts are eligible to receive scholarship upto Ph.D level whereas the awardees studying professional courses in medicines, Engineering, Technology, Management and law, are eligible to receive the scholarship upto Post Graduate level.
  • Reservation: There is 15% reservation for SC, 7.5% reservation for ST and 3% for Physically Handicapped students.

How to Register for NTSE-2018:

  • Every year in the month of July - August State Education boards release Notification for Stage I examination
  • Students who cleared Stage I are eligible for Stage II and need not to register for Stage II
  • For stage I, Students can register through their studying School. These filled in applications should be reach to the concern department(Liaison Officer) with in last date. State board websites and addresses are given at the bottom of this notification.

NTSE-2018 Exam Pattern:

Stage I:

  • Most of the state boards follow the same exam pattern of stage-II at stage I level. This is a Pen and Paper based(Offline) test
