National Institute of Design (NID) 2026 Notification Released

Eligibility Criteria:

Age limit:

  • General / GEN-EWS (Indian Nationals): Born on or after 1 July 2005.
  • Reserved categories (OBC-NCL, SC, ST): Born on or after 1 July 2002.
  • PwD reserved category: Born on or after 1 July 2000.
  • Overseas (foreign nationals): Born on or after 1 July 2005.

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have passed or be appearing in higher secondary (10+2) in 2025–26 from a recognized board (CBSE, ICSE, IB, or equivalent).
  • Candidates appearing in 10+2 in 2025–26 must submit marksheet by 15 July 2026, otherwise admission will be cancelled.

Female Candidates (except SC, ST & PwD) Rs. 2,000/-
SC & ST Candidates Rs. 1,500/-
PwD Candidates/ Third Gender Rs. 500/-
All Overseas Candidates US$ 125 (Equivalent in INR rounded up to next Rs.100 at announcement time)

Exam Pattern & Selection Stages (DAT)

  • Stage 1: DAT Prelims — paper & pen test (objective + subjective components). Used only to shortlist candidates for DAT Mains; Prelims score does NOT carry forward as weightage to Mains. The DAT Prelims paper may include text and visuals. Duration will be announced on the admit card. Question paper is in English. Shortlist is category-wise.
  • Stage 2: DAT Mains — comprises a Studio Sensitivity Test and an In-Person Sensitivity Test. NIDs will call approx. 1.5 times the total number of seats (per category) based on DAT Prelims merit for DAT Mains. DAT Mains score is used for final admissions. Specific details & schedule for DAT Mains will be announced later.

Weightage for final result (B.Des)

  • Studio Sensitivity Test: 60%
  • In-Person Sensitivity Test: 40%
